Killarney Racecourse

Horse Racing at Killarney

The Racecourse

Killarney Racecourse is Ireland’s most scenic racecourse. The fantastic racecourse offers a wide range of facilities, such as restaurants, bars, a café and a spectacular golf course within the rails and surrounding the racetrack.

Killarney Races hosts four racing festivals throughout the year. These take place in May, July, August and October annually and many people come from far and wide to embrace all that Killarney Races has to offer. There have been many iconic racing memories captured at Killarney Races, the glory days of the late Dr. Vincent O’Brien at Killarney is certainly one that stands out.

“Whatever knowledge I may have of horses, I owe a great amount of it to my father. He would have been considered one of the best judges of a young horse in the country. I went literally everywhere with
him – to races, to sales and to various farms all overlooking for young stock to make hunters, point-to-pointers and racehorses. I learnt so much in those years and I have no doubt that my father realised my great interest in, and love for, horses, and that he fostered it.”
– Dr. Vincent O’Brien.

To read more about the life of Dr. Vincent O’Brien check out our 2009 August Festival Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes Listed contest Racecard here.

Off the track, there have been many special moments to choose from with celebrities like Yvonne Connolly, Rosanna Davison, Gráinne Seoige and Keith Duffy, all fans of attending our famous Dawn Milk Ladies Days over the years.
